The Great British Bake Off musical was a project I was genuinely excited to be involved in. Having worked with the production company previously, I was already familiar with the strengths of their in-house wardrobe, while the nature of the project also offered valuable opportunities for me to showcase my making, sourcing and budgeting skills. I worked on this production largely remotely, travelling to Ipswich for occasional fittings, which allowed me to develop and successfully implement systems for remote costuming. This experience has proven beneficial not only for my own practice but also as a model for future collaborations. Analysing the characters and finding ways to visually differentiate each individual within a contemporary setting presented a challenge, but one that was ultimately met with successful results. I designed mood boards and look books for each character, then communicated withe the cast on if their is anything they could provide. Additionally, for the showstopping 'keep on keeping on' number, I made 8 glamorous blue sparkly aprons for the ensemble to wear.
